Proton Power Upgrade of Spallation Neutron Source strengthens Jefferson Lab’s decades-long partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – One of the world’s leading neutron science facilities is souping up its already powerful particle accelerator, and the project just reached a major milestone: The final segment of that high-performance package, scratch-made at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, has trucked out to DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

CEBAF Center is Jefferson Lab's main administration building.
CEBAF Center is Jefferson Lab's main administration building. It provides conference, meeting and office space for laboratory staff and more than 1,300 researchers from around the world who conduct research here. CEBAF Center also houses the Computer Center, where scientists can store and analyze data from experiments. They also use the lab’s super computers to run simulations of experiments.
