Former Associate Director for Environment, Safety, Health & Quality

Craig Ferguson was the Jefferson Lab Associate Director for Environment, Safety, Health & Quality, where he was responsible for the development of general laboratory policies and plans to meet the Lab's obligation to operate in a manner that protected the environment and the health and safety of staff and visitors. He provided overall management and direction of the Lab's Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs. He also represented the Lab on EH&S-related issues with the Department of Energy, other government agencies, other national laboratories, and external bodies as appropriate.

Craig played a critical role by serving as the Lab's advocate for EH&S and represented the Lab on EH&S matters to the Lab's contractor, the general public, the Department of Energy, and concerned regulatory agencies. He provided expert advice to the Lab Director on EH&S Matters.

Craig became the Lab's Safety Director in April of 2005. He spent eight years with BWX Technologies in various positions, including EH&S Manager for BWX Technologies -Y12 and Manager of Industrial Safety and Transportation Safety in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, as well as the Manager of Licensing and Safety Analysis for BWX Technologies Nuclear Products Division in Lynchburg, Virginia. He served in the US Navy on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS LY Spear and received the Navy Achievement Medal.

Ferguson received his B.S. in Nuclear Technology from the University of the State of New York Regents. He was a certified Health Physicist and a certified Safety professional. Ferguson was a member of the Health Physics Society, the National Safety Council, the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists, and the American Society of Safety Engineers.
