Former Chief Operating Officer

Michael Dallas served as the chief operating officer for the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility from June 2006. In that position, he directed, oversaw, and integrated the operations of a Department of Energy National Laboratory with a $150 million annual operating budget.

Before assuming his current role, he had served for four years as the general manager of Center Operations at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, overseeing a $250 million, five-year program. Additionally, he spent five years as senior vice president and chief operating officer for DynCorp Tri-Cities Services, Inc. in Richland, Wash., managing a five-year $500 million maintenance and operations project in support of DOE's Hanford Environment Management Site.

In 1996, Dallas completed a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Army. Throughout his military service, he held various command and staff positions in the United States, Republic of Vietnam, Korea, and Europe. Alongside commanding at the brigade and battalion level, he also led the United States Quick Reactions Force in Mogadishu, Somalia, served as deputy commander of Multinational Forces in Haiti, and acted as assistant division commander of the 10th Mountain Division. Dallas also served in key staff assignments at the highest levels of the government, including as senior executive assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe.

Dallas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Pacific Lutheran University. He completed a fellowship program in Strategic Planning at the Sloan School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is a Certified Project Manager.

Dallas is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow and is a member of the National Management Association and the Army Aviation Association of America.
