  • NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Some of the brightest young minds in the Commonwealth will meet at the U.S. Department of Energy's Jefferson Lab on Saturday, Feb. 1, to compete in the Virginia Regional High School Science Bowl. Teams from 23 schools are registered for this year's academic competition.

  • NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Thousands of Virginia students are expected to flock to Jefferson Lab's Science Education website just as they have done each spring for the past several years as they prepare for the Virginia Standards of Learning tests.

  • NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Harris Power & Equipment, based in Yorktown, has been recognized as Jefferson Lab's Outstanding Small Business Subcontractor of the Year for 2010.

    R. Dudley Harris, company president, and several Harris employees who regularly carry out contract work at Jefferson Lab, attended an awards ceremony at the laboratory on April 21. He accepted the award, saying, "Being chosen to receive this award means a lot to us. We appreciate this recognition and your business. Our workers earned this and they are very deserving of this recognition."

  • Two scientists, Pavel Evtushenko and Jozef Dudek, have won highly coveted awards totaling $3.25 million from the U.S. Department of Energy, joining a select group of just 65 individuals, including 21 from national laboratories, to win an award this year. The Early Career Research Program was created last year by the DOE’S Office of Science to bolster the nation's scientific workforce by providing support to exceptional researchers during their early career years, a crucial time when many scientists do their most formative work.
