Rhonda Scales

As Legal Counsel for the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, Rhonda provides all legal advice needed for Jefferson Lab to manage legal exposure and risks. She regularly briefs the Director on potential liabilities and items that affect the Lab.

Scales joined Jefferson Lab in June 1994 as a staff attorney. She was promoted to Assistant General Counsel for Jefferson Lab and SURA in 1996. In 2001 she was appointed Legal Counsel.

Scales received a bachelor's of science degree in administration of justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, a certificate in Litigation Management from the Institute of Paralegal Training, and a Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Richmond-T.C. Williams School of Law.

Prior to coming to the Lab, Scales interned for Tredegar Industries and clerked for Virginia's only panel of administrative law judges with the Board of Medical Appeals.

While in law school, Scales received the Moot Court Award and served with distinction as a member of the University of Richmond's Moot Court Board.
