I want to keep you informed on i) the status of the competition for the contract to manage and operate JLab, ii) the possibility of staff reductions, and iii) safety.

Vacation Purchase Program Enrollment
Once again, Jefferson Lab is offering the option to employees to purchase
up to 40 hours of additional vacation time. Only employees who
currently earn vacation time and have 2 years or less service time as of
January 1, 2007, are eligible for the purchase of additional time.
This time must be paid for before it can be used. -
Training Sessions for JLab's New E-Commerce System Set for Wed., Jan. 9

Training Sessions for Jefferson Lab's new E-Commerce system managed by our vendor GSS (Government Scientific Source) will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, in CEBAF Center, Room F113.
Three formal sessions are scheduled; each of these sessions will cover all aspects of the new system. Additionally, a Drop-In Information Session will be available for those who want to stop by for general
information. -

These forums will give staff the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers directly from Human Resources regarding the Voluntary Resignation Program which was mentioned in the Director's memo dated January 17, 2006.

All new, experienced, and potential inventors affiliated with Jefferson Lab are invited to the Patenting at JLab Seminar, scheduled for today, January 19, at 3 p.m. in the CEBAF Center auditorium.

Cholesterol Screening
Cholesterol Screenings will be held March 22 and 23, 2006. Anyone interested should call Occupational Medicine (x7539) to schedule an appointment. We only have 50 tests. If you have received this test within the last year, this includes Medical Monitoring, please let others take advantage of this opportunity.

Colleagues,
It is with great regret that I have to announce the resignation of Jim Stroud, Human Resources Director, effective Wednesday, October 5, 2006. We have assembled a cross-cutting selection committee and will begin the recruitment process for his replacement immediately. Effective October 5 and until we find a replacement, Ken Johnson, HRIS Administrator, will be Acting Human Resources Director.
