Application

  • Applications can be made at any time by sending E-mail to usjhpe@jlab.org

  • Applicants should submit a proposal (typically ~2 pages) describing
    • Context and objectives of the proposed research, including the benefits to the hadronic physics programs at US and Japanese facilities;
    • Status of the collaboration with the Japanese partners - beginning or established collaboration, previous results;
    • Itinerary of the visit, including institutions visited, hosts and collaborators, duration of visits.

  • The typical length of a supported visit is expected to be 2-3 weeks. However, applications for travel support for longer visits will also be considered.

  • After completion of the supported travel, participants will be required to submit a brief report (~2 pages) summarizing the accomplishments of the scientific exchange.

  • The program is not intended to support conference attendance by US scientists in Japan and cannot pay for registration fees or per-diem during conferences. Combining a conference with a collaborative research visit in a single trip is acceptable; however, the merits of the proposal will be judged solely on the basis of the proposed research visit.

  • The program is not intended to support US scientists taking shifts during experiments at Japanese user facilities.
