JLab Onsite Access Badging

CURRENT BADGING INSTRUCTIONS DURING MEDCON 5 AND MEDCON 4

Jefferson Lab is currently in MEDCON 5 status and appointments are required for all badging through MEDCON 5 and MEDCON 4. Please email fso@jlab.org to make an appointment for all approved new or re-issued badges. 

The current Badging Office hours for appointments are 8:00am - 12:00pm Monday thru Friday and, at this time, appointments are not being scheduled for Fridays unless an emergency exists. 

Normal daily Laboratory operations for badging will resume at MEDCON 3 status which is considered "normal operations with no onsite access limitations".

*****IMPORTANT NOTE*****: For all Users/Students coming to JLab to run shifts, please email: fso@jlab.org to plan for and indicate the expected date for any badging requirement (new or extensions) prior to your arrival.

To ensure a timely and efficient transition into the Lab, submittal of the Electronic Access Request Registration Form is required at least 7 days before the onsite arrival start date. Access will not be granted until all required validations and approvals are complete.

The JLab Registration/International Services Office informs the Badge Office to issue a JLab photo Identification/access badge to approved guests and new employees who have completed the access registration/new employee orientation process (see New Registration and Returning Foreign Nationals) and successfully completed the required training requirements. Access levels on-site are granted through completion of required training courses for each area (see training).

The JLab pictured identification/access badge must be worn at all times while on-site. Anyone on-site in possession of another person's identification/access badge is at risk of losing on-site access privileges for themselves and the valid identification/access badge holder.

A one-day temporary badge may be issued from the Accelerator Site Guard Shack or Badging Office in the SSC Building 28 to any valid JLab pictured identification/access badge holder on-site who may have forgotten their badge. The temporary badge must be returned to the Guard Shack or Badging Office before an individual's JLab pictured access badge can be returned to active status. Report all lost badges and direct all badging questions to the Badging Office at fso@jlab.org.
