  • Message from Mary Logue - Reminder of Jefferson Lab Smoking Policy

    This message is being sent on behalf of Jefferson Lab's Acting Chief Operating Officer, Mary Logue.

    We continue to receive complaints from Lab staff that individuals have been smoking just outside of building doors and in lab owned equipment including carts. As a reminder, smoking (both traditional smoking products and vapor/electric cigarettes) is not permitted:

  • Occ Med Guidance: Returning to Work After a Respiratory Infection

    All,

    In recent weeks I've noticed that many staff members were recovering from upper respiratory infections (usually a cold).  I've received questions about the criteria for safe return to work during convalescence from such illnesses.

  • July 21 Symposium in CEBAF Center to Honor Claus Rode

    On Thursday, July 21, Jefferson Lab will hold a symposium titled: Project Highlights from 50 Years in the DOE Office of Science: A scientific symposium in honor of Claus Rode.

  • Hall C Safety Awareness Training Updated: Current Training Expires Sept. 1

    Due to the new configuration of Hall C, the Safety Awareness Training for the hall, SAF112, has been updated. This training will expire on Sept. 1 for anyone who last completed this training before May 1, 2016.

  • Wife of Bill Schneider, a retired staff member, passed away on June 29; Visitation set for July 6, memorial service will be July 7

    Madeleine Schneider, the wife of Bill Schneider, a retired staff member and now consultant on the 12 GeV Upgrade Project, passed away on June 29.

  • Jefferson Lab to Test Tornado Warning Siren at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3

    Jefferson Lab's tornado warning siren will undergo its monthly operational test at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3.  Depending on weather conditions at the time of the test, the siren may be heard by anyone within a 1.5-mile radius of the lab.

    Don't respond to the siren; this is a test of the siren system and not a personnel response exercise.

    The test shouldn't last more than three-minutes.

  • Funding Statement from Secretary Moniz, Dept. of Energy

    Dear Colleagues,

    As you know, the President has now signed H.R. 2775 into law, providing funding for the federal government to January 15, 2014 and extending the debt ceiling to February 7, 2014. After more than two weeks of disrupted mission, stress to families, furloughs, and uncertainty, Congress has finally provided funding for the start of fiscal year 2014 (FY14).

  • Watch for, Heed Radiological Postings in TEDF Buildings

    While nearly all construction associated with the Test Lab and Test Lab Addition (Bldg. 58) and the Technology and Engineering Development Building (Bldg. 55) has been completed, not all areas have been posted for radiological concerns. The Jefferson Lab Radiation Control Department will soon begin marking these areas to clearly identify radiological conditions.

  • Continued Limitation on Travel Approvals (Updated Oct. 21)

    Dear Colleagues,

    We will continue with the restrictions on non-essential spending during the Continuing Resolution. 

    To ensure that we continue to limit all non-essential spending, Associate Directors will review and approve all Travel Requests. Below is a complete list of authorized approvers:
