He’s just been awarded a five-year, multimillion dollar research grant by the Department of Energy to develop a “FemtoAnalyzer” that will help nuclear physicists image the three-dimensional internal structure of protons and neutrons.

    NEWPORT NEWS, VA – You could say that James “Jim” Fast is returning to his roots. A detector specialist early on in his career, he’s now taken leadership of the MOLLER Project at the Department of Energy’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The new project manager role will require his expertise in building a large, new detector and other systems. And to take on those new responsibilities, he’s moving cross-country, from the Pacific Coast back to the East Coast, where he grew up.

    NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Physical science educators looking for new ideas to better engage their elementary or middle school students, whether in the digital or traditional classroom, need look no further. The U.S. Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility is now accepting applications for its 2020-21 science enrichment program for fifth-, sixth- and eighth-grade teachers of science. The deadline for applications is Sept. 4, 2020.

    NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Stuart Henderson, director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, has been named to the 2020 Hampton Roads Power List by Inside Business. According to the Hampton Roads Business Journal, this is the 10th iteration of the publication’s tally of people who are making major contributions to the region’s strength, and it is Henderson’s second appearance on the list.
