The Jefferson Lab University Relations Office was created in 1991 to facilitate interactions between Jefferson Lab and the nation's universities. Its most important role is partnering with universities to help them build strong research groups focused on the Jefferson Lab scientific program. Jefferson Lab pays particular attention to the potential of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) and other Minority Educational Institutions (MES's), which are currently underrepresented among the users of national laboratories.
In support of its goal to create in the Southeast new faculty positions in nuclear physics in support of Jefferson Lab's scientific mission, JSA/Jefferson Lab has entered into several types of partnerships with universities. Under joint faculty arrangements, new faculty are appointed to tenure-track university positions on a cost-shared basis with Jefferson Lab.

This workshop will focus on the continuing development of the scientific case for a 22 GeV upgrade to CEBAF made possible by recent novel advances in accelerator technology. CEBAF’s envisioned capabilities, at the highest luminosities, will enable exciting opportunities that give scientists the full suite of tools necessary to comprehensively understand how QCD builds hadronic matter in the valence region. Through this workshop, JLab and its user community will continue to build the science case with descriptions and concrete projections for experiments that would become possible with an...
