Radiation Worker II Class Scheduled for Aug. 20; Sign up by Aug. 19
A Radiation Worker II (SAF802) class is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. – 12 noon. The class will meet in the ARC, Room 231. Anyone who needs this training is asked to sign up online through the Jefferson Lab Learning Management System (LMS).

REAL ID Act Update as of Aug. 21, 2015
In March of 2015, Jefferson Lab began implementing the REAL ID Act (Public Law 109-13).
The Act, managed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, determines which state and territory driver’s licenses can be presented and accepted as a valid ID document for access to federal facilities, including Jefferson Lab.

Notification Required When Lab Vehicles or Equipment are Damaged
Jefferson Lab's vehicle control officer and ESH&Q staff remind everyone at the lab that the person operating a JSA/JLab or government vehicle or piece of equipment, is responsible for reporting any mishap a vehicle is in, and when lab equipment is damaged in any way.

Lab Community Mourns Death of Retired Engineering Division Technician, Wesley “Woody” Woodworth; Memorial Service set for Aug. 8
Wesley L. "Woody" Woodworth, 78, a retired Jefferson Lab Engineering Division Radiofrequency (RF) technician, passed away on July 4. Upon his retirement in 2013 he had worked at the lab for 17 years.

JLab to Test All Emergency Notification Tools at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17: Tornado Siren, Public Address Over Cisco Phones and Site-Wide Alert System
A test will be conducted of Jefferson Lab’s emergency notification systems at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17.
This operational test of the lab’s severe weather/emergency communications systems will take place at the same time as the statewide Tornado Drill, planned by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Grigory Eremeev wants to double the efficiency of some of the most efficient particle accelerators being used for research. Now, the staff scientist at the Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility has just been awarded a five-year grant through DOE’s Early Career Research Program to do just that.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility will conduct the monthly test of its tornado warning siren at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6. Depending on weather conditions at the time of the test, the siren could be heard by anyone within a 1.5-mile radius of the lab.
The test will be carried out over a period that could last up to three minutes. The test will be of the wavering tone (also called high-low-high or 10-4-10).

Effective April 4: JLab Entrance at Lawrence Dr. Reopens; Lawrence Access to ARC Closes
The current phase of work on the Hampton Roads Sanitation District 30-inch sewer main under Lawrence Drive will be completed this week. Detour signage is being installed to allow work to commence on the next phase that will start next week.
